Your Story Matters

I saw a quote on a social page that said, “If you have a pulse, you have a purpose.” I have to tell you, I was wow’d by that simple sentence. I couldn’t share it fast enough, or far enough! Doesn’t that cut to the chase and sum up so much? But, I think so many of us are forgetting this.

God’s reason for our lives, and everything that happens between the start and the finish, is for a reason. It’s absolutely for a reason! And I think when we view our minutes and hours and days this way, it changes our perspective. If we could see ourselves in every single moment and experience as a walking, talking purveyor of a purpose set before us, by the One who created us—wouldn’t that change so much?

Would it change things for you?

Would it help write your story?

My best friend went to Heaven almost two years ago. I want to say it was prematurely, since she was way too young to pass—but I can’t really say that. Because God knew the day He was going to call her home. God knew how many beats she’d have in her heart. God knew the time she was needed to make an impact in this world, for His doing. God knew, but we didn’t.

Her short life seemed more impactful in building His kingdom, than others who have lived decades longer. She, as well as others who have gone before us, remind us through their lives that it’s not the number of days that matter, but the matter within those days.

You, my friend, have a story to be fulfilled. But it’s not a story of this world. It’s not just your own story. It’s the story of the One who gave you life, and who is leading your life. That has to be the center of your story; of everything that swirls around you. Your purpose is not how to do you better, it’s how to do Him better. And before you get riddled with guilt of not preaching to the masses, it’s not about soapbox soliloquy’s on street corners, but faith-living in your circles.

I may lose some followers and get turned away over this directness, but it seems more and more we are watering down our faith, sisters, because we fear what others will think. We hold back in sharing about the One who has rescued us, and guided us, and blessed us, and provided for us, because we’ve been encouraged not too. Oh, I’ve been there, trust me!! I have been there too many times. But when we stay silent, we are forgetting our purpose! Because it’s not about us, it’s about Him! When everything in society says, “look at me” we are called to be different and say, “No, look at Him!” Look at what He’s done to this messed up, shaken up, screwed up daughter of the Most High. Even the Son of Man said it,

“'Why do you call me good?' Jesus replied, 'No one is good except God alone.'" Mark 10:18

I think we have some serious authority in that, to back up our claims.

A hurting world needs us. It needs You! Good gracious, just take a look around. Could our current times be in any more need of God-centered lives? We’ve done it “their” way (absent of God) and I think it is beyond revealing how that’s gone. Seems now, more than ever, the well known verse in the book of Esther comes to life… “And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this.” Es 4:14. Esther was a nobody, who became a somebody, that saved an entire nation. She changed the course of history because her faith was bigger than her fear. Her purpose was beyond herself. She was needed for that moment, in that time, for that matter—God centered!

You have the same writings of your story. You are here for a God-centered purpose. Whether it has been fully written yet, or will happen at the very last minute, have no doubt God put you here, on this earth, at this time, in your place, with your people, doing your days… “for such a time as this.”

You have a purpose—an incredible purpose. It is a story being written by God, for God, about God…through you! That is huge. That is monumental. That is earth shattering and heaven quaking. Never forget…Your pulse resonates a purpose to those that need a Promise.

Thank you Lord for every minute we are given. Remind us daily that we are here for a reason, that our story is being written, and that You have determined our purpose. Help us live with this guidance and give us a fearless faith to show You to others.
